Pipe Making

Malin began making bagpipes at 14 in their parents’ shed, learning woodturning from Alan Soulsby. Since then Malin has toured across the world performing on their unique instruments.

In 2019 they made the world’s first two-octave wooden Lindsay System Chanter (which now forms part of the permanent collection at the National Piping Centre Museum) after collaborating with inventor Donald Lindsay. Creating this unique instrument has become a central part of Malin’s practice and is the core sound of their album Halocline.

Malin has made a limited number of bespoke Smallpipes. They are not currently taking new orders but please get in touch with enquiries and what might be possible in the future.
